JUSTICE FOR MCQUEEN
FARRAH'S TRIAL COMES TO A CLOSE
The trial of Alex Farrah for the murder of local girl, Bonnie McQueen, came to a close yesterday. The court heard evidence over the past few weeks that convinced them beyond all reasonable doubt that Farrah killed McQueen in cold blood. He was sentanced to life imprisonment for the murder, as well as receiving fifteen years for the attempted murder of Kaity Mattell, seven years for a GBH charge, and five years collectively for breaking into Mattells house on two occasions.
The town was gripped by the case from the beginning, with the local gossip columns stirring up interest in a wide selection of men. Leighton Sekemoto was accused by such papers, along with Mattells boyfriend, Winter Snow.
Sekemoto had this to say: "Bonnie was a great girl, we used to hang out at The Grind a lot, and she would have been a great mother if she'd had the chance. Mr. Farrah has done something that can never be forgiven, and I hope he rots in that jail for what he did.
"I have been good friends with Kaity for a number of years now, I am proud of her for having the courage to stand and give evidence against such a monster, and I know we'll all sleep a little easier now he's off the streets."
Farrah is elligible for parole in 5053.

N'aaw, see? Leighton is a good friend. Him, Kaity and Bonnie used to 'hang out' *wiggles eyebrows* at the grind while Alex and Shae were still together, so I had him give the press release as he knows all the people involved, yet wasn't involved himself. Kaity would no way have said anything worthwhile, and she wouldn't have let Winter speak either.
Ok, so... You mainly probably wanted the death sentance, but as we don't have it in the UK, and I believe it's worse punishment to be left to rot in a cell instead, I decided to go with the life imprisonment. I'll confirm now that he won't be breaking out and attacking anyone, his part in this is over now, and he'll never see light of day again *cheers*
Unfortunately, Shaena couldn't bring herself stand up in court and bring up the domestic violence, and there wouldn't have been enough evidence for a conviction for that anyway. He's out of her life either way, now, so she does have her justice too.
Yay! I'm glad Alex has been put away for life, I hope he rots there and everyone can forget about him.
ReplyDeleteYes, he'll definately rot in there. I don't know how long away the year 5053 is, but judging my his sentances it'll probably be after he dies.
DeleteI'm happy with life imprisonment too. =D
ReplyDeleteAs long as Alex is put away where he can't hurt Shaena or her child, that's good for me.
Having Leighton give the statement was a good idea.
And I'm glad there was enough evidence to put him away with Shaena's testimony, so she was at least spared going through that in public.
Good :)
DeleteYes, Josh will never meet his father (because there's no way Kaity will allow Shaena to attend any visitation orders Alex sends her way), but he'll still have to grow up knowing his father murdered his best friends mother. :(
Yes, Winter is yet to meet Leighton. I'm hoping to do that soon! :D
I assume you meant without Shaena's testimony? And yes, he definatly had enough charges already! :p
Yes, I meant without. I'm really bad at dropping words, or parts of words, when I type.
DeleteOooh, looking forward to Winter and Leighton meeting. At least Leighton didn't have any ideas about being Kaity's boyfriend, so it should not (hopefully) a big ugly mess.
Hehe, it's ok, we all do it ;)
DeleteYes, Leighton by now knows about Kaity and Winter as a couple, and I wonder if he'll have much to say about Kaity not saying anything that night (uh... morning...)?
Kaity has a way of making thing big ugly messes, but we'll see if she can hold back on that.
Good, I'm glad he faced justice. I really like how you use newspaper/tabloid articles to progress the story, especially in this case.
ReplyDeleteI live in the state with the largest number of executions, and I think life in prison is more suitable.
Hehe, thank you! It makes things easier for me in this case, which feels a little like cheating, but as I had all that 'time off' during the conference I thought it'd be best not to detour to court again.
DeleteOh wow! I kinda assumed that most American's living in capitol punishment states liked the idea, which is why I put in that disclaimer, but I guess I was wrong! I like to know that Alex is suffering and has to look at the same four concrete walls for the rest of his life. Killing him is just letting him skip over the punishement, in my eyes, anyway. I guess people are more religious in the US and they believe in hell, which would definatly be worse than prison!
I don't think it's cheating at all. It's a clever narrative device (one which I may steal in the future ;))
DeleteI think most Texans do support the death penalty (about 3/4 do, according to a poll I saw a couple of years ago, though who knows if that's true). I live in a more liberal part of the state where a lot of people seem to oppose it. I agree with you--I know if I was in prison, I'd rather die than spend my life locked up, but a lot of people seem to think death is a bigger punishment. Anyway, I'm sorry for hijacking your post and turning it into a discussion about the death penalty in the US. :p
Nah, it's cheating ;) (by all means steal it! I'm sure I'm not the first)
DeleteAh, that explains my assumption, then!
Yeah, I would definately rather die if I knew I had to spend the rest of my days in prison, but that's like being let off the hook.
You didn't hijack at all! I prompted the discussion, and I don't mind discussing it! :)
*jumps and cheers and claps! Haha! Hurray that scumbag Alex is out! Though it's really awful that he had to kill off Bonnie for the world.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Shaena doesn't beat herself up too badly over it all and moves forward with her son to a better life.
I can't hit the reply button to your comment... Sorry! :|
ReplyDeleteYep! Alex is out the way! Woo!!
Hopefully Shaena will be able to push him out of her mind. Winter is being a better father figure to Josh than Alex ever would have been, so that's some comfort at least.
Good! Maybe he'll wind up somebody's bitch and get his just rewards.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy Kaity didn't crack on the stand.
Hehe >:) Hopefully...
DeleteYeah, Kaity would never crack on the outside, but who knows how much (more) her head is messed up now? Thank God Winter is there!
Justice for McQueen. A good title, and a sad reminder. But thank goodness--life in prison. What's a GBH charge? I can understand that Shae wouldn't have wanted to testify after all she'd been through. Sometimes, you have to though. At least in this case there was evidence aplenty to convict him on other charges.
ReplyDelete::looks at other comments:: Wow, there are liberals in Texas? :O Well, Tennessee is about as bad. I'm but a blue speck in a state of red (red being the color for Republicans, blue for Democrats). No...we're not all for the death penalty (as we've touched upon in all our discussions of history and social issues, lol)(which reminds me, I still have our Milk email to reply to hehe). For one, it *is* a harsher punishment to spend your life locked up. For another (and this is the big reason for me), so many are wrongfully convicted. Can you imagine being executed for something you didn't do? It's frightening how often the 'justice' system fails. At least without the death penalty, innocent people can still try to prove their innocence, there's time for new evidence, witnesses, and dna evidence to come to light.
Yes, a sad reminder indeed!
DeleteGBH is greivous bodily harm - basically when he slashed Kaity's stomach open. There's 'Actual bodily harm' - small scrapes and bruising, and greivous is deep gashes and stab wounds requiring surgery. I assumed that was a world-wide thing, sorry!
Yes, I think if there hadn't been enough evidence (though I don't know how because there was a dead body and a dying girl and witnesses and he was covered in blood...) Kaity would have forced Shaena to testify, and possibly someone with more tact would have gently persuaded her too.
LOL! I guess there's liberals everywhere! :p
We have red, blue and yellow here. And then there's green, black, a different shade of red, purpley-colour... The first three are the main ones, the other rainbows are smaller, and mainly racist: BNP (British National Party), UKIP (UK independance party... Not that we're not independant...). No joke, the leader of BNP looks like a fat Hitler who had a shave, and the leader of UKIP is in the middle of denying that his comment on us giving aid to 'Bongo-bongo land' wasn't racist... :| What a lovely country I live in!
Uhm... Yeah, live rotting in a cell is harder, and the whole wrongfully convicted thing is bad enough if you've served half your time, but how often do they find out someone was innocent too late? Just not worth it.
I'm glad Alex is permanently locked up!
ReplyDeleteAs far as capital punishment, the only way I can reason for it is because it ensures that murderers will never have the chance to escape and possibly harm more people. But, like Misty said, many are wrongfully convicted and it would be horrible for them to pay for someone else's crimes so harshly. Really, I don't like for anyone to die.
This discussion is getting heavy. :P
Yeah, good that he's out the way!
DeleteHey, everyone is entitled to their own opinion! I don't like for anyone to die either, really. In my mind, world peace is just a step away, that step involving me getting a megaphone and shouting "Grow up, you all look stupid", and then everyone realises they really do look stupid :p My view of the world is crazy warped ;)
I do feel some people should be put to death, but there will always be that doubt in my mind that we will never be 100% sure that they aren't innocent, so even if there are serial killers/paedophiles etc that make me sick, they probably shouldn't die. (Maybe they'll meet some strong prisoners who don't like them too much...)
LOL! Yeah, a little! I hadn't planned on a full scale debate, but debate is healthy :)
I'm glad that he's going to rot away in a cell for the rest of his life thinking about the horrible things that he's done. He can think about the life that he took away. He can think about the wife that he cruelly abused and the children that he could have had.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that they won't ever have to worry about him again and he's completely out of their lives now!
